“Protégée of Vitsebsk Province Executive Committee” to go to Eurovision

26-year-old honoured singer of the country Alena Lnskaya will represent Belarus at “Eurovision-2-12” as a result of the contest “Eurofest” that took place in the Palace of Sport on February 14.

The band Litesound and singer Gunesh have been taking part in national selection tours for six years and they took the second and third position respectively. Victoria Aleshka remained in the fourth position and singer Uzari was fifth.

Let us remind you that information about the fact that Vistebsk Province Department of Culture sent Alena Lanskaya’s cut-aways to all state institutions and suggested that they should have been distributed among all their employees appeared a few days ago. It insulted the finalists. Zmitser Karakin, one of the founders of Litesound, considers such agitation to be detrimental:

"In my opinion, it demonstrates the participant’s weakness and diffidence as she needs to use such detrimental methods and the administrative resource. If such a participant takes part in Eurovision, there will be no success in Europe. Naturally, this fact has been noticed abroad and is being discussed on Eurovision forums in Europe and in the neighbouring countries... That is why the attitude to such a participant will be negative”.

However, curator of “Eurofest” Alyaksandr Tsihanovich thinks that the distribution of cut-aways is absolutely normal:

"We did not distribute them and they didn’t do it either. Everyone is busy doing their job and I do not think that she could do it. Secondly, agitation is allowed during a presidential election, isn’t it? People decided to do it, let the others do the same. I do not think that it is bad. We do not have any restrictions of the kind. If it has happened and if it makes people vote, it will be good! Thank goodness, it has worked. The others should have done it too!”

Alyaksandr Tsihanovich was right… However, neither brothers Karakaikin nor Gunesh Abasava appeared on the stage to receive their consolation prizes after the results had been announced.

Let us remind you that “Eurovision-2012” will take place in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan. Alena Lanskaya’s first semi-finals will take place on May 22 and 24. The final will be organized two days later – on May 26.
