600 journalists and bloggers killed in 10 years
41 of them were killed in Syria in 2012.
"It is really shocking and unacceptable that the guilty of 90% of attacks at the journalists stay unpunished," Russian Newspaper quotes UN Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson.
The UN Security Council underlines that journalists, like diplomats, "have a need for protection in order to be unbiased". Meanwhile, Russia's representative at the UN Vitaly Churkin thinks that journalists should care about their own security themselves: "Chasing the sensation in the conditions of an armed conflict despite the common sense may be very risky."
