Lukashenka about Alexievich: She tried to sling mud at her country
Alyaksandr Lukashenka visited Victar Drobysh’s party at the sports complex Minsk-Arena on October 24. He awarded Francysk Skaryna order to the composer, BELTA reports.
The Belarusian President found time to criticize writer Svetlana Alexievich without mentioning her name in his speech.
Lukashenka: “You have never been ashamed of calling yourself a Belarusian unlike other creative people, even Nobel Prize laureates who have not received the prize yet but have already gone aboard and tried to sling mud at their country.”
Lukashenka called such behavior wrong: “You cannot choose your Motherland like you cannot choose your parents. They are as they are. If you speak ill of your country and are ashamed of it, you are a bad son.”
This year’s Nobel Prize laureate Svetlana Alexievich has criticized the current Belarusian authorities many times.
