Lukashenka orders law-enforcement to monitor sacked officials
The head of the state tells security services to check out if former top officials occupy "warm chairs"
Aliaksandr Lukashenka on Friday attended the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Belarus that focused on the results of Belarus' social and economic development in 2012. The targets for 2013 were discussed as well. Lukashenka heavily criticized the government's performance and threatened the cabinet with resignation. He also recalled some former officials.
"The law-enforcement agencies are soon to complete the monitoring, and I will ask [KGB chairman] Valery Vakulchyk and the State Secretary [of Security Council] to set up a group. Check what job positions are occupied by those who were sacked or who quit. If we find out that a fired official occupies a "warm chair", he or she should better watch out," the head of the state warned. He reckons this is "the root of all problems."
Aliaksandr Lukashenka said State Control Committee should check out the cases when a public servant is preparing a lucrative job position in a private sector while serving at the government. When he resigns, he "gets 10 times more in salary and lives a good life."
