Baranavichy activist beaten by plain-clothed policeman in his own apartment

Aliaksandr Vaitseshyk says that he came to his apartment on July 27, where an unknown person on plain clothes was waiting for him. The activist's mother carelessly had let him in. According to Vaitseshyk, the stranger did not introduce himself and would not let him call the police: he put an armlock on him and beat him in the head and body. The forensic medical examination recorded 22 blows.

Vaitseshyk is in the pre-trial detention center now. The unknown person turned out to be the mayor of police, and the activist is now likely to be accused of disobedience to a police officer, states the web-site "Viasna"

Human rights defenders from Baranavichy think that the reason for the policeman's visit was Vaitseshyk's refusal to undergo fingerprinting for the second time without an official subpoena.
