Russian extremist detained in Minsk


According to the website of the Russian Investigative Committee, an extremist group was disbanded in Saint-Petersburg some time ago. Its members commited crimes motivated by racial and ethnic intolerance. 

 In the dock were Georgi Timofeyev who started the criminal group as well as 11 young people aged 17 to 24 years. From 2009 to 2010 they committed dozens of serious and extremely serious crimes including murder, blowing up of the bus stop, burning of the temple. The attackers filmed their crimes on video for distribution. All members of the criminal group were sentenced to long prison terms. 

The investigation revealed  27 year old Moscow born Alexei Antonovich. Investigators say he posted materials of the groups online. In particular, in December 2009 Antonovich issued a video appeal of the criminal group members. There were extremist statements and a murder scene. 

After the indictment Antonovich escaped and was put on the international wanted list. On August 12 he was arrested in Minsk.
