Search in Mahilyou journalist’s flat

The flat of Mahilyou journalist Ihar Barysau (member of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (Hramada)) is being searched. He is accused of violating article 188 of the Criminal Code – libel in a public speech or in mass media, Barysau told his colleagues. He is facing up to two years of correctional work, a fine or 6 month – 3 year imprisonment for it.

Ihar Barysau is the editor-in-chief of the website Our Mahilyou. It is not clear what has made the police suspect him of libel.
