Irish actor Ryan McParland appeared in the role of the artist of Belarusian origin Chaim Sutin in Johnny Depp's film "Maudie". He wrote about it in on Instagram.

The movie will soon be screened in cinemas. It is a story about two days in the life of the Italian expressionist painter Amedeo Modigliani, which became a turning point for him. In a crisis, the artist decides to end his career, and his friends dissuade him.

The film, directed by Johnny Depp, is based on a play by Dennis McIntyre. The screenplay was written by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski.

The leading role is played by Riccardo Scamarcio. Bruno Gueri plays the landscape painter Maurice Utrillo, Antonia Desplat - the writer Beatrice Hastings, Stephen Graham - the poet Leopold Zborowski and Al Pacino - the collector Maurice Gagne.

In Belarus, the most famous painting of Sutin is "Eve" from the collection of Belgazprombank: it was acquired when the bank was headed by Viktar Babaryka. In 2020 it became one of the symbols of resistance when the authorities confiscated the art collection after Babaryka's arrest.
