Protest against ban of white-red-white flag in Belgium (photo)

They protested against the ban of the white-red-white flag during the Ice Hockey World Championship in Sweden. Partaking in the action were members of the Belarusian People's Republic Council in Belgium and the Belarusian-European Union. They held white-red-white flags and a poster that said "Democracy is not playing hockey, but respecting freedom".


Half an hour since the action started, the Embassy's representative came out to the protesters and invited representative of the BPR Council Zmitser Pimenau in for a conversation. As they talked, the Embassy's employee said she understood the picket but tried to free Sweden from responsibility. Like, the officials of the IIHF ordered the Stockholm police to set obstacles to Belarusians when they support their team under the national flags. The police were forced to follow the orders of the championship organizers.


Euroradio reminds, during the Ice Hockey World Championship in Sweden, members of the "Belarusian National Memory" were banned to support their team under the white-red-white flags at several games. When they didn't listen to the ban, they were forced out of the stands.
