Mikhalevich's rally in Vitsebsk city hall building disrupted
Presidential candidate Ales Mikhalevich on December 17 was forced to leave the building of the local history museum in Vtzebsk, where he was holding a meeting with local activists. Mikhalevich would tell journalists before the rally that he had no intention to campaign in a huge venue in this northeastern regional capital, since "it is inefficient". Therefore, the candidate proposed democratic activists and journalists to enter the old city hall building and talk in one of museum halls .
Mikhalevich bought entrance tickets, and everyone entered the Ancient Vitsebsk exposition hall, where the politician briefly outlined his election platform.
Ten minutes into the meeting, museum director Hleb Savitski asked everyone to leave the museum, promising to refund the ticket fees. Then, Mikhalevich proposed his listeners to continue the rally near the bulding of the city hall.
But, Mikhalevich was approached by Ivan Matsveyeu, head of ideology department at Vitsebsk's Kastrychnitski district administration, who made sure that people walked away, reports Belapan.
