Lithuanian Railways have detained 15 wagons of Belarusian fertilizer. According to the Belarusian Investigative Center, they were trying to send them abroad to evade Western sanctions.
Carbamide worth 320,000 euros was on its way to Dubai with transshipment in the port of Klaipeda. The supplier of the fertilizer is the Belarusian company Technospectrading. A recent investigation revealed that this is a cover for the supply of urea from Hrodna Azot, bypassing Western sanctions. The company came under sanctions due to repression of its workers for their participation in protests and strikes. Now the prosecutor's office is investigating the cargo. The Lithuanian Railway, in turn, promises to intensify checks on suppliers from Belarus. The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry is proposing to create a mechanism for fining legal entities for attempts to evade sanctions.
