21-year-old man died in Minsk detention centre #1 (photo)
Minsker Ihar Ptsichkin was jailed for 3 months for driving without a driving license, Platform Innovation reports.
The young man was sent to detention centre #1 on July 30, human rights defenders say. However, his relatives learnt that Ptsichkin died a few days later. According to the preliminary version, he died of a heart attack.
His relatives did not believe it and met the head of detention centre #1. Their conversation was recorded. The relatives did not hide their belief in the fact that Ptsichkin has been killed by warders. However, the chief refuted it and said that “nobody could be beaten” in their detention centre. He though that the young man could die of alcohol or drug poisoning. His behavior became inadequate not long before his death, he noted. They had to move him to the medical unit and tie him to the bed.
Meanwhile, you can see bruises and wounds on Ptsichkin’s body in his posthumous photos.
The cause of death of the 21-year-old Minsker will be investigated during a forensic medical examination.
