Independence Palace to be open for sight-seeing tours
The Belarus president's administration says it welcomes applications but no tours around the new Independence Palace will be allowed till November.
Several days before the newly built Independence Palace at Peramozcau avenue in Minsk, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that anyone could visit it. "This is not a president's residence. There is one office for the president to work, and no more offices," he said.
Officials of the Presidential Administration have confirmed to Euroradio that it is necessary to submit a corresponding application in order to visit the palace.
"You can send an application via fax to us, we will consider it. However, please do not hurry: no tours around the Independence Palace will be organized till November," the press-office said.
The festive opening ceremony of the Palace of Independence took place in the end of last week. On October 24, it hosted the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council presided by the leaders of Russia and Kazakhstan. On October 25, the Palace met the leaders of the CIS countries, who arrived to the CIS summit that took place in Minsk.
