Andres Herkel becomes PACE special rapporteur of Belarus

Herkel heads Estonian PACE delegation, he is a member of Pro Patria and Res Publica Union, Russian branch of ІА REGNUM reports.


According to the politician, the situation in Belarus is very complicated now, economical condition deteriorates, and limitations of political freedoms have become even more brutal than before. This is why Belarus should pay attention to PACE report, Herkel thinks.

 
The Estonian MP is convinced that Belarusian authorities should closely cooperate with the European Parliament and the PA OSCE. This is necessary so that the European organizations could coordinate their policies with regard to Belarus better.


Herkel is known for having made a report of Belarus in 2006, which deepened the crisis in the relations between PACE and the official Minsk.
