Sakharov Prize may be awarded to Zmitser Bandarenka
The Belarusian political prisoner has made it to the final of the selection of nominees for the prestigious Prize for Freedom of Thought.
The winner will be announced next week, reports Interfax. Activists of “the Arab spring” and representatives of the community of San José de Apartadó who were persecuted in Columbia are among the nominees.
Coordinator of “European Belarus” and Andrei Sannikau’s (ex-presidential candidate) representative Zmitser Bandarenka was sentenced to two years of imprisonment in a medium-security colony on April 27 for the events in the Square.
