2500 prisoners are amnestied
About 2500 people have been released from prisons. They have been amnestied in honour of the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from German fascist invaders. The amnesty will end in autumn. The Belarusian Minister of Internal Affaires Anatol Kulyashou has informed deputies of the House of Representatives about it, reports BelTA.
Parliamentarians have discussed the possibility of liberalization of the Criminal Code at a meeting. Thus, Alyaksei Kuzhanau informed about an appeal of one of their electors. A young man was sentenced to two years of restriction of liberty because he had broken his neighbour’s fence. Now he cannot be drafted because he has an uncleared conviction.
In his turn, Anatol Kulyashou admitted that Belarus was third after the USA and Russia when it came to the number of convicts per a thousand people.
