BelaPAN editor-in-chief Iryna Lewshyna detained
The editor-in-chief of BelaPAN news agency Iryna Lewshyna did not show up at the office on the morning of 9 August, her mobile phone switched off, reported BelaPAN.
The journlaist have bee detained by Investigation Committee agents in connection with the BELTA copyright infringement case aka 'BELTA case', according to the Investigation Committee statement. Over the past two days, agents raided the newsrooms of several leading media outlets and detaied at least 18 journalists.
BelaPAN journalist Tatsiana Karavyankova was detained for 72 hours on 7 August. On the same day, Investigation Committee agents detained four editors at TUT.BY news portal: Maryna Zolatava, Halina Ulasik, Hanna Kaltyhina and Hanna Yermachonak. On 8 August, agents detained for 72 hours two more journalists - Pawluk Bykowski and Aliaksei Zhukau.
