Belarus, Russia to sign new gas deal by January 30
Beltransgaz and Gazprom are expected to sign an additional agreement on the price of gas supplies to Belarus in 2009 by not later than January 30, Belarus' first deputy prime minister Uladzimir Siamashka said on Monday.
The agreement "is about to be signed as all the principal decisions have already been made", he said. However, Siamashka declined to reveal the price of the Russian gas in the first quarter of 2009 for Belarus, noting that the average per annum price would ammount to $148 per 1000 cubic meters, according to the estimates of the Belarusian side.
