Belarus submits 2014 hockey world championship bid

Belarus on March 17 in Zurich officially presented its bid to host the 2014 world ice hockey championship.  The final decision on the 2014 tournament host will be taken at the next congress of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) to take place on May 7-9, 2009 in Switzerland.

Belarus contends with the Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia and Ukraine. Belarus had earlier bidded to host ice hockey world cups in 2010 and 2013.
