Belarusian wins silver at World Weightlifting Championships
Belarusian Nastassya Novikava (below 58 kilos) has won a silver medal in the double-event sum at the World Weightlifting Championships in South Korea today, on November 23. The Belarusian lifted 225 kilos in two lifts (100 kilos in the snatch and 125 kilos in clean and jerks), notes BelTA. Chinese Xueying Li won the gold medal having scored239 kilos (107+132). The bronze medal was won by Ukrainian Yuliya Kalina – 215 kilos (96+119).
Nastassya Novikava has also won two silver medals in separate lifts – snatch and clean and jerks.
Novikava used to perform in the weight category below 53 kilos before and won a bronze medal at Beijing Olympics in 2008 and a silver medal at the World Championships in 2007.
