CEC chairperson hopes to have at least 5 presidential candidates

There may be at least 5 presidential candidates this year, CEC chairperson Lidziya Yarmoshyna told BELTA.

"It is difficult to say now because a number of candidates are announcing their intentions right now,” Yarmoshyna said. “I am hoping to see at least five candidates. Voters need a choice because they will feel disappointed if there is no competition at any election, especially the presidential one and it also affects the turnout.”

The House of Representatives appointed the presidential election for October 11, 2015. The CEC will start registering initiative groups today.
