Censorship looms over Lithuania?
Lawmakers have overcome the veto of the Lithuanian president and passed the law on the protection of the underage from negative information. Critics of the new bill maintain that the law creates a basis for the all-out censorship in the country. The authorities are now able to censor any materials that contain "homosexuality, bisexuality, poligamy as well as the scenes of violence and death".
Under the new rules, materials that "encourage to participate in gambling and lotteries", "propagate improper diets, bad hygiene and a passive lifestyle" will also be banned. The bill was passed by 87 out 141 lawmakers. Only 6 MPs voted against the legislation. 25 lawmakers abstained, reports ВВС.
