The
European Green Party (EGP), during its conference held in Malmo, Sweden,
urged the Belarusian government to halt the nuclear power plant project,
BelaPAN reported. The
party's resolution says that the government's arguments in favor of the project
were not persuasive.
The
EGP notes that in an undemocratic country like Belarus the public has no control
over the nuclear program. The party also said that some critics were not
admitted to a public discussion of the project during a hearing in the Hrodna
region.
