Ex-KGB colonel: Navumau was powerful political player
Former KGB officer Valery Kostka
told ERB that Interior Minister Uladzimir Navumau was dismissed because he
became a powerful political player. Kostka linked Navumau's
resignation on Monday to power struggle, noting that the interior minister did
not belong to the team that has taken over key positions in the Lukashenka
government.
He says that Navumau was set up
when he was put in charge of an investigation into the July 2008 bomb
explosion, stressing that the case should have been given to the KGB.
"In addition, I believe that
Navumau became a powerful political player in our society. He was respected by
police officers. The Belarusian leader does not tolerate when someone powerful
emerges on the political scene," Kostka said.
