Exhibition from Bykov's Plenaire opens in Vitsebsk (pictures)

The Center of Contemporary Arts in Vitsebsk has opened an exhibition to showcase over 50 works of the participants of the arts plenaire which took place in the summer of 2008 in the village of Bychykha where Vasil Bykov was born.  The list of plenaire participants included both the famous artists and young beginners. This was the third arts event at writer's home village. Reknowned Belarusian artist Aliaksei Marachkin says Bychykha is a place where a certain "ecospiritual" tourism should be developped.

Marachkin: No doubt, people should go there, because this is our Belarusian Mecca. I am confident that the paths to there will never be covered with grass. Moreover, the house which are currently empty could be bought by someone to organize the ecospiritual tourism.

Jazep Drazdovich's Center traditionally coordinated the organization of the plenaire. Ada Raishonak who runs the center says a book dedicated to Jazep Drazdovich is soon to come out in Belarus.

Raichonak: We decided to make a book titled "Time Will Come". Jazep Drazdovich used to say in his last years that people would come looking fo him in the future. The book has already been compiled and is waiting to be sent for printing. We are raising funds and hope this book will be released this year.

The exposition will remain in Vitsebsk for two weeks before moving to other cities of Belarus.
