Former Polish PM Jerzy Buzek becomes President of European Parliament
A former Polish Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek has become President of the European Parliament. He has become the first President of the EU Parliament representing a country of the former socialist camp. Buzek’s priorities are ratification of the Lisbon Agreement, strategic agreement with the USA and strengthening of relations with India, China and Japan.
Jerzy Buzek is 69. He was an activist of the legendary trade union “Solidarity” in the 1980s. He was the Prime Minister of Poland in 1997-2001, notes BelaPAN.
