Homel schoolchildren study officials’ names
Homel Region Executive Committee’s department of education has sent letters to district education departments and recommended informing schoolchildren about the names of district, regional and national officials.
The education department has informed BelaPAN that the measure was caused by pupils’ poor awareness of the country’s officials and the local administration.
The education department did not send any patterns of stands to schools. Lists of officials look different in different schools. The majority of headmasters simply printed lists of officials alongside with their positions. Homel schools #2 and #51 have stands with photos. The position of the head of Homel Executive Committee is still vacant. Alyaksandr Byalyayeu was elected deputy during the last parliamentary elections in September 2008 and his position of the head of the city executive committee had been vacant for six months.
