Hrodna authorities do not allow Freedom Day in main city square

Hrodna authorities have not allowed celebrating the Day of Freedom in the main square of the city. The application was sent by the city affiliate of BNF. The deputy head of the city executive committee Iryna Senchankova delayed the reply till the end referring to an illness and refused in the end. The authorities’ motivation is: Soviet Square is not on the official list of places the city executive committee can allow mass actions in.

At the same time, the administration of the city affiliate of BNF notes that the authorities and their subordinate NGOs organize mass actions in the main city square. Meanwhile, the city democrats are trying to choose another place to celebrate the Day of Freedom.
