Icelandic Parliament gets ready to join EU

Iceland is close to becoming the 28th member of the European Union, thinks the country’s Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir.
Meanwhile, opponents of the idea of joining the EU claim that the status of an EU member state and fishing quotas will do damage to the Icelandic fishing industry playing an important part in the country.

Observers note that the population of Iceland (320 thousand people) are traditionally skeptical about the idea of joining the European Union, reports euronews.net.
