IMF mission working in Minsk

A group of experts from the Internation Monetary Fund (IMF) has begun working in Minsk. The mission is headed by IMF's Belarus mission Christopher Jarvis. The Belapan news agency reports that the mission is to evaluate how the Belarusian government has been implementing th program funded by the $3.52 billion stand-by loan. The experts will also hold consultations on the development of the Belarusian economy in the previous year and prospects for the future.

The mission will stay in Belarus through November 19 and will have meetings at the government, the National Bank, economy and finance ministries. After the mission, IMF will take decision on wiring the fourth installment of the standby loan.

The National Bank hopes to receive this installment in December 2009.
