International monetary fund: Belarusian economic problems have become more complicated

The new head of the Belarusian mission of the international monetary Fund Chris Jarvis has noticed that Belarusian economic problems are getting more complicated. In particular, the mission that worked in Minsk from March 3 to March 10 mentioned the decreasing demand for Belarusian goods in the countries being the main trade partners of our state. For example, the decrease of the demand in Russia has exercised a negative influence on Belarusian exporters. The head of the IMF mission stresses that “the authorities took important decisions at the beginning of the realisation of the programme and they are helping them now”. Among them are the devaluation of the Belarusian rouble and attaching its exchange rate to the currency basket. Chris Jarvis promises that “the IMF will continue cooperating with the authorities to help the Belarusian people survive this difficult period of time”.

Let us remind you that Belarus received about 800 million dollars out of 2.46 billions of the credit allocated by the IMF in order to conduct reforms till 2010. Another 400 million dollar part of the credit is expected to be allocated in April.
