Lukashenka: Belarus not to join Economic Union to its own detriment (video)
The President has made a number of statements during his visit to the joint Belarus-China enterprise BelGee.
The Eurasian Economic Union agreement is supposed to be signed by the end of May, Alyaksandr Lukashenka reminded. Belarus did a lot for it and is interested in the union, however, some issues are still remaining, the state leader stressed.
"We are discussing the ways of settling the issues with Russia now,” BELTA quotes Lukashenka. “The problems will be solved soon because we need to sign the agreement on the creation of the union by the end of May. Otherwise, we will not be able to join the union to our own detriment.”
Alyaksandr Lukashenka made special mention of the good work of BelGee. The sales of Geely cars went up by 50% in Russia, he said. “Russians are worried now. They probably think that China will kill the Russian automotive industry in Belarus,” Lukashenka said.
