Mikalai Statkevich to return to prison
The political prisoner stood trial in Shklou colony #4 on May 4 and was returned guilty of violating the colony rules.
Ex-presidential candidate Mikalai Statkevich is servicing his sentence in Shklou colony now but he will be transferred back to prison soon. The court returned him guilty of violating the colony rules. The hearing was closed and only Mikalai Statkevich’s wife Maryna Adamovich was allowed to attend it. Neither human rights fenders, nor the OSCE observer were allowed to get there.
The political prisoner looks and feels okay, Maryna Adamovich told Euroradio after the trial.
Adamovich: “Judge Barantsava satisfied Shklou colony’s appeal to send Mikola back to prison until the end of his term. He looks okay but he has gone quite grey.”
Statkevich’s term will be over in 19 months. He was imprisoned for six years in 2011. The politician was detained on the Election Day in 2010. He was one of the candidates. Statkevich has been asked to beg for Lukashenka’s pardon many times but he is refusing to do it.
