Minskers urged to mention Belarusian as mother tongue during census
4000 copies of Narodnaya Volya newspaper, running an appeal of the Belarusian Language Society to mention Belarusian as the mother tongue during the forthcoming census, were distributed in central Minsk by activists of the Malady Front youth pressure group. No detentions have been reported. "People were simply grabbing the newspapers from our hands; their reaction was very positive", activist Mikola Dzemidzenka told reporters.
