OSCE delegation conducts meetings with representatives of authorities and opposition
A delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) headed by a Swedish deputy Cecilia Wigström has arrived in Minsk.
According to BelaPAN, the delegation will meet representatives of political parties and non-governmental organizations, the vice speaker of the House of Representatives, the administration of the Central Election Commission and the Ministry of Justice on Monday. Negotiations with the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are appointed for December 22.
According to Radio Liberty, a meeting with the opposition has already taken place. It was represented by Yuras Hibarevich, Zmitser Dashkevich, Alyaksandr Kazulin, Syarhei Kalyakin, Anatol Lyabedzka, Anatol Lyaukovich and Vital Rymasheuski.
Let us remind you that the OSCE office was created in Minsk in 2003. Its mandate lasts for 12 months and is prolonged by the Belarusian government. The Belarusian authorities have not announced their decision for 2010 yet. The head of the President’s Administration Uladzimir Makei claimed in September r that “Belarus has to think about the prospects of future activities of the OSCE office in Minsk”.
