Poll: Lukashenka loses support base in Russia
The number of Russians who approve of Alexander Lukashenka's policies has reduced, according to a poll conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center. According to the poll returns, the number of those who treated him "with sympathy and respect" has reduced from 34 percent last year down to 28 percent in 2009, reports K2Kapital.
At the same time, the number of those who think that Belarus needs a new leader has increased from 13 to 18 percent.
However, 39 percent of polled Russians said that despite their bad feelings about Lukashenka, they respected the choice of the Belarusian people.
Additionally, 32 percent of Russians object to the union state of Belarus and Russia, according to the poll.
At the same time, the number of those who think that Belarus needs a new leader has increased from 13 to 18 percent.
