Radiation levels over 100 microroentgen in Krichau district (pictures)

A Euroradio correspondent has traveled to the contaminated areas in the Mahilyou region to find out that the radiation levels are high right near, not somewhere far the 'Chernobyl Zone'.
103 microroentgen was the maximal reading of our dosimeter, but local residents maintain that there are levels as twice as much. It is not 58 microroentgen like on squares in Minsk!

The village of Malinauka was burried in 1999. Since the wood, used for the construction of houses, accumulates radiation, they cannot be burnt or witghdrawn. Every house here was burried in the grave.

78 microroentgen is a standard radiation level in these areas. 5 microroentgen was considered a normal radiation level before the 1986 accident in Chernobyl. After Chernobyl, the norm is 20 microroentgen. In the center of Mahilyou, our dosimeter showed 18.

The remains of the contaminated villages. One can even see the system of streets.

And houses...

A war veteran used to live in this house. The war is still remembered, while Chernobyl remained somewhere in the past as if it never happened. Only these villages-memorials still remind us about the tragedy

Vepryn is the largest burried village in the Cherykau district. Official estimates say that 1028 people used to live there.

People used to live here...

Bricked houses in Vepryn are still standing, with some personal belongings and furtinure
