Reports: Belarusian KGB detains runaway Russian officials
The Belarusian KGB has detained runaway Russian officials, the Moscow newspaper Kommersant reports. Former deputy heads of the judicial department of Moscow Oblast Evgeni Titov and Valeri Kuzminich lived in Italy (earlier – in Spain), the newspaper reports. As soon as the Russian FSB learnt that they were going to meet a relative in Belarus, they reported it to KGB. The Russians were detained on crossing the Belarusian border.
Titov and Kuzminich are accused of major fraud. According to investigators, they forged documents and stole the budget money meant for court interpreters (about 1.5 billion Russian roubles). Moscow Basmanny Court ordered to arrest them.
The Russian officials are expected to be extradited back home soon. By the way, the Russian police found traces of the stolen budget money in Singapore and Cyprus.
