Saakashvili: Georgia is no longer CIS member, European Union is its partner now
Georgia has left the CIS and the European Union is its virtual partner now. The Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili claimed it in an interview with “Moscow’s Echo” radio station.
According to him, participation in the programme “Eastern Partnership” gives Georgia “an agreement on free trade with all EU member states and a relaxation of the visa regime”.
Furthermore, “all infrastructure projects of the European Union” would function on the Georgian territory, noted the Georgian President.
Let us remind you that Belarus also joined “Eastern Partnership”. The constituent summit took place in Prague on May 7.
600 million euro is planned to be allocated to six countries - Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan and Armenia - by 2013. The money will be used to support state institutions and small companies.
