School break extended through Nov 11
School vacations in Minsk, Vitsebsk, Orsha and Novapolatsk have been extended through November 11. In Mahilyou and Babruisk, pupils will rest through Novemeber 14. Decisions about resuming classes in schools will be taken depending on the situation with flu outbreak.
Dzmitry Pinevich, the head of healthcare department at the Minsk City Hall, said during an on-line conference on the site of Belarus Radio and TV Company that over 100 thousand people got sick since October 19 in Minsk. Over the past three days, there have been 48 thousand reported cases.
He said the current epidemic is not common, because 30 percent of patients are children. In recent years, 50 percent of patients were under 18 years old, reports Belapan.
