Security services disrupt rock concert in Masty
Law-enforcement agents disrupted a concert of the Vitsebsk-based rock band Northern Band which was expected to launch its Belarusian-language program.
The concert was organized by activists from For Freedom and Right Alliance movements. All the organizational matters were resolved, and fans from Lida, Slonim, Vaukavysk, Hrodna, Schuchyn and Masty were invited to attend.
But on April 8 one of the band's musicians was approached by security agents who "recommended" him to refuse from taking part in the gig in Masty.
During the conversation, security agents voiced possible scenarios: detention of musicians; a raid by police commandos; possible provications.
As a result, the organizers postponed the concert for an indefinite term.
“We hope that such incidents will be not become a general trend of pressure on the Belarusian culture", Ales Zarembyuk, the coordinator of For Freedom movement in the Hrodna region, told the European Radio for Belarus.
