Sentence of Vitsebsk policemen who beat a person is not changed
Vitsebsk Region Court has not changed the verdict for the policemen who beat a doctor of the local emergency hospital in December 2006. The doctor had to undergo an urgent kidney surgery after that. Kastrychnitski District Court sentenced the head of the department Shushko to 4.5 years of imprisonment and Mahankou, the driver, to four years. The policemen lodged an appeal but it has not been satisfied.
By the way, the policemen did not plead guilty. They claimed that the doctor they had detained in the street was drunk and that he was using bad language and… hit himself with a bench in the police office. The expertise proved that he was sober and the injuries he received were caused by seven kicks in the belly.
