Union of Armenian youth to be established in Belarus
The process of establishing the Union of Armenian Youth in Belarus is under way, Erkramas, the newspaper of Armenian Diaspora in Russia, quoted Aram Asipian, the organizer, as saying. The organization aims to preserve the cultural heritage, to develop relations between the Armenian youth and to offer support to the Armenians who have problems in a difficult situation.
Arama Asipian said an Armenian community was active in Belarus. There is also a club of Armenian businessmen which also hosts a Sunday school where the Armenian language and history are taught. The community also puiblishes a monthly newspaper and has a run the Erebuni folk band for 10 years.
However, Asipian reckons that the construction of an Armenian church is a priority for the Armenian diaspora in Belarus. It is currently in the process of raising funds for this purpose. According to Asipian, a permit for construction has already been issued, but it is not yet possible to find a proper land plot.
