18:23 Tatstsyana Sevyarynets threatened with dismissal
The Pershamaiski Distrcit of Vitsebsk department of education is going to dismiss Tatstsyana Sevyarynets, the mother of a youth activist Pavel Sevyarnets. Our Vіtsebsk reporter Yadviga Stasheuskaya comes up with more details.
“Tatstsyana Sevyarynets is a teacher at secondary school #40. She has been working for more than 35 years and has never had any disciplinary punishment before. Nevertheless, Ms. Sevyarynets is threatened with dismissal for … absence from work.
Tatstsyana told the European Radio for Belarus that she had sent an appeal for a holiday she needed for domestic reasons. She needed to leave during the spring break (from March 26 till March 31). The headmaster signed the appeal and the head of the department of education agreed to it in their phone talk.
Ms. Sevyarynets visited her daughter living in Minsk and took part in an educational seminar that took place in Warsaw during the holiday. On her arrival back home Ms. Sevyarynets got to know she was on the edge of being fired.
According to Ms. Sevyarynets, she had an unpleasant talk with the head of the Pershamaiski District department of education Uladzimir Shaloma who told her “to give up politics so that there would not be any problems”. If Ms. Sevyarynets is dismissed she will sent a complaint to the court.
