Activists detained for distribution of Belarusian ribbons are released
The participants of the distribution of ribbons with the Belarusian national ornaments were detained at noon on Saturday.
Civil activist Franak Vyachorka, head of the Art Manor Pavel Belavus and photo reporter Uladz Hrydzin were detained neat Kamarouski Market in Minsk. Too many people gathered around them. Somebody reported that an action was being held, the police said.
The detained gave their explanations in Soviet District Department of the Interior and were let off. No detention reports were written. About 30 ribbons were left at the police office.
The distribution of Belarusian ribbons was organized in 20 spots in Minsk, Franak Vyachorka told BelaPAN. It was not a political action, he stressed. It was a cultural action aimed at reminding Belarusians about the authentic symbols in the ornament.
