Alyaksandra Herasimenya: I like white-red-white flag better
It is aesthetically beautiful.
Medal winner of the London Olympics Alyaksandra Herasmenya has commented on Belarusian symbols in an interview with Pressball.
"Which flag is closer to you: the red-greed or the white-red-white?" the famous Belarusian swimmer was asked.
"The white-red-white is aesthetically beautiful, - Pressball quotes Alyaksandra Herasimenya. - The Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Navahradak, Mir, Nyasvizh and Kletsk. I do not like to think that Belarus appeared in 1917 and that we are champions in the number of streets named after Lenin, Marx, Engels or someone else... There are a lot of good dates in our history and let us not forget that the GDL used to be one of the most influential European states.
...It is a shame that we have failed to seize the initiative. Lithuanians consider themselves the descendants of that great state. We lack roots to feel a great nation and genetics can make wonders even hundreds of years later."
