BAJ still waiting for response of police and Office of Public Prosecutor
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Minsk Office of the Public Prosecutor have not responded to the appeals of the Belarusian Association of Journalists sent to them in connection with the events of September 16. If journalists do not get any response by the next week, they will complain to the higher authority.
The deputy chairperson of BAJ, lawyer Andrei Bastunets, has informed ERB about it.
Andrei Bastunets: “Theoretically, the letter could be delayed at the post office. We will wait for a few more days and if it does not arrive we will lodge a complaint. We will appeal the response of Minsk Office of the Public Prosecutor in the General Office of the Public Prosecutor if we do not receive any reply. Speaking about the Ministry of Internal Affairs, we will think about our tactics”.
The deadline for the response was October 23. Meanwhile, the deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Yauhen Poludzen said that the reply had been sent to BAJ on October 22.
Let us remind you that policemen used force to prevent journalists of Belarusian and foreign mass media from taking pictures of a street action’s dispersal.
