Belarus arms “targeting” at Gazprom
The press and analytics have been making guesses what will the super modern missiles “Iskander” that Russia will supply to us “because of friendship” used for. But why there should be any guesses? Russian generals are eager to reveal “the military secret” in public. We will “make friends” against the American System of Air Defense.
The supply of “Iskanders” to Belarus may become a response to the allocation of elements of the American air defense in Czechia and Poland”, - says the head of missile and artillery forces of Russia Vladimir Zaritski. “Iskander” is not meant for only defense. Such missiles may present a threat to “elements of anti-aircraft defense, aerodromes and civil infrastructure”.
The radius of hitting is 280 kilometers. The vice President of the Russian Academy of Geopolitical issues Vladimir Anohin said in his interview with “Vzglyad” that “Europeans would feel uncomfortable knowing that our missiles can reach their targets in about several minutes”. However, analysts say that the effect of such missiles is like the effect of “firecrackers”. They will be installed not far form Asipovichy.
According to an independent military expert Pavel Felgengauger who gave an interview to “Belgazeta”, “there is nothing Belarus could use those missiles for. They have no value from the military point of view.” Russia can supply weapons to Belarus and the weapons can reach American Air Defense in Eastern Europe.
There are no good targets in the 280 km radius here. And there is no big concentration of enemy troops. The deal is part of our anti-American rhetoric leading to worsening of relations which inspires military men”.
The analyst explains this illogical step before the very eyes of a strategic enemy who understands everything by commercial interests of Russia.
“The scheme could have been invented to resell weapons to interested countries in the Middle East. Supplies to Belarus may be a preliminary step before selling “Iskanders” to Syria. Or to Iran. Maybe the contract is being advertised to make the relations between Russia and the West more intense which is also very important”.
Belarusians should also feel very uncomfortable. First, the American anti-aircraft system will bring down any possible targets over the territory … of our country. Second, we will have to pay Russia for “the advertised “Iskanders” even though we have a discount.
But it is necessary to pay for friendship. That’s why “the best” friend of the Belarusian authorities Aslyaksandr Plyahanau was speaking about the missile deal with his eyes shining while giving an interview to “Eho Moskvy”:
“My eyes are shining. I think everything has been done right. It only proves that Russia is very solicitous when dealing with Belarus. The gas scandal when Russia almost pushed Belarus away thinking about its geopolitical advantage… We can trust Lukashenka. Moreover, Lukashenka has no choice. He will be friends with us”.
So, it is possible that Belarus is arming “to target” “Gazprom”.
