Belarus writers to sue Education Ministry
"We enjoy the equal rights with the pro-government Union of Writers of Belarus. So, we have asked ourselves why one union is allowed to meet with students, while the other union should seek permission from the first union.
Ales Pashkevich, the chairman of the Union of Belarusian Writers sent a letter to the Belarus Minister of Culture Radzkou, describing the situation and demanding to lift the ban for meetings with students for our union.
We have not received any answer yet. Under the law, the government agencies must respond within one month. If they fail to respond, we reserve the right to file a lawsuit in court," Barys Piatrovich, the deputy chairman of the Union of Belarusian Writers told the European Radio for Belarus.
