Belarusian climber falls 400 meters from Mount Elbrus, survives
She received multiple injuries.
Belarusian climber Alyaksandra Husakouskaya fell off a cliff at Russian Mount Elbrus. She fell 400 meters, received injured her head and elbows, a lot of bruises, but survived, Vesti reports.
On May 6, Husakouskaya was out in a group of 18 people. She participated in a high-speed race to Elbrus. At an altitude of about 5,000 meters, the Belarusian athlete slipped and fell down.
The rescue operation involved seven employees of the Elbrus squad.
The Elbrus speed climbing event of 6 May 2015 was attended by over 130 climbers from 14 countries.
Elbrus is the highest peak in Europe. The height of the mountain is 5,642 m.
